The airbrush spray on tan
A complex unit, the airbrush spray tan includes not only a portable brush compressor but all sorts of combined solutions such as the basic tan solution, moisturizers and tan extender lotions. Each of these elements play a special role in the skin treatment, and the resulting beautiful tan will not wear off before a week or ten days. Comparable with tanning booth solutions, the airbrush spray tan uses the same type of tanning agents but different spraying devices. A compressor is operated by a technician who will spread a fine mist on the body.
During the airbrush spray tan session you should protect the lips, the eyes and the nose. The tanning effects will appear within a few hours after the application, but you should not shower during this interval in order to keep the active agents on the skin surface. The airbrush spray tan will be even and better looking if you exfoliate the entire body with a scrub before going tanning. Therefore, make sure to remove the dead skin cells that can spoil the tanned look by creating streaks and stains.
We need to warn users of airbrush spray tan systems that the browning skin agents do not act as protectors against ultraviolets. You will still need a sunscreen when you go outdoors, in order to keep the damaging effect of the sunrays away from you. This is the safe way to take care of your skin, because the brown tanned look is superficial and it does not reflect the state of melanin production. Apply a thin film of sunscreen and you will be safe. Skin health therefore equals a good look and youth at the same time.
Airbrush spray tan is a lot safer to use as compared to sun exposure. Studies claim that there is no toxicity at all in the tanning agents, however, caution is recommended for pregnant women and nursing mothers. The effects of the tanning agent, DHA, are not fully known on unborn babies, hence, it would be best to stay away from any form of sunless tanning during pregnancy. Otherwise, airbrush spray tan brings the advantage of browning the skin quickly without the risks of sunburn. Moreover, there will be no wrinkles or skin dryness: just a nice looking skin!

When spray tanning in pregnancy you have to take into account not only effects that DHA can have on a foetus, but additionally the effects of all other ingredients in the solution. There can be up to 40 additional ingredients, some of them not tested and not approved by FDA.
If you think of spray tanning during pregnancy at least avoid it for the first trimester if you can.

I avoided using many different type of products during my pregnancy and I would really advise anyone to be on the safe side. Please read any label and if you don’t know what the ingredients are then I would skip it.
